Smile to Unlock Privacy Policy

Smile to Unlock is built privacy-first. Your face, your smiles, and your habits stay on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what that means - and it is written to match Smile to Unlock’s App Store privacy label line for line.

Camera and your face

Smile to Unlock uses the front camera for one thing: detecting a smile, right on your iPhone. Detection runs entirely on device. No image, video, or face data is ever uploaded or sent to us or to anyone else. Calibrating Smile to Unlock to your smile saves only a sensitivity setting on your device - no photo of that calibration is kept.

Smile photos are optional and stay local

Keeping smile photos is off by default. If you choose to turn it on, photos of your unlock smiles are stored only on your device, inside the app. They never leave your phone. You can remove any single photo, or delete them all at once in Settings, at any time. Deleting photos never affects your smile counts or your streak.

Screen Time and Family Controls

Smile to Unlock protects apps using Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. You pick the apps with Apple’s own picker, and the list of what you protect, along with your unlock history, streaks, and goals, is stored only on your device. Nothing about which apps you protect or when you open them is sent anywhere.

No account, no analytics

There is no account to create and no sign-in. This version of Smile to Unlock sends no analytics - no usage events leave your device. If a future version adds anonymous analytics, this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated first.

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple and by RevenueCat, the service we use to manage subscriptions. When you buy or restore Premium, RevenueCat receives the purchase from Apple and assigns an anonymous identifier so your subscription can be restored on a new device or after reinstalling. This is used only to know whether your subscription is active. It is not linked to your name, it is not used to track you, and we never receive your payment details. If you never buy Premium, nothing leaves your device.

Children

Smile to Unlock does not collect data from anyone, including children.
